Biography

Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal is a former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for 2024–25 and a senior professional with extensive experience in governance, ESG, digital transformation, AI and the UDIN Committee. He has contributed to major professional initiatives involving technology, institutional development and the evolving role of chartered accountants in India. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and a Fellow Member of CPA Australia, with more than 24 years of experience in the accounting profession. He has been a prominent advocate for integrating Environmental, Social and Governance principles into accounting, finance and corporate decision-making, and has worked to advance sustainable business practices, corporate governance and transparent financial reporting in India and internationally. One of his important professional contributions has been his work relating to the Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN), which strengthened real-time verification and improved the integrity of professional certifications, alongside his association with the UDIN Committee. He has also been associated with AI initiatives focused on the responsible and practical application of AI in accounting, audit, financial reporting and professional practice. He also launched the 40/40 Awards in collaboration with CNBC to recognise young professionals demonstrating leadership in ESG-oriented business practices. His leadership has extended to prominent national and global platforms, including the International Federation of Accountants, the South Asian Federation of Accountants, the Ministry of Finance and the National Foundation for Corporate Governance. In addition, he has supported financial literacy and professional development initiatives, including training programmes for non-CA students that have reached more than 10,000 individuals. His professional focus continues to centre on ethical practices, sustainability, innovation, transparency and the long-term development of the accounting profession.
